Felix G. Arroyo was appointed Chief of Health and Human Services on January 6th, 2014 by Mayor Martin J. Walsh. Prior to his appointment, Chief Arroyo served as an At-Large member of the Boston City Council where he was elected in November of 2009 and re-elected for a second term in 2011. As a City Councilor At-Large, Felix G. Arroyo Chaired the Council’s Committee on Labor, Youth Affairs and Health and Vice Chaired the Council’s Committee on Housing.
Chief Arroyo has dedicated over a decade of his life to public service and community organizing. He worked to help pass the Affordable Care Act as the New England Field Director for Health Care for America Now and as an advocate for workers’ rights as the Political Director for SEIU Local 615.
Chief Arroyo is a lifelong Bostonian and a graduate of the Boston Public Schools. He got his Bachelor’s degree in Human Services at University of Massachusetts Boston and his Master’s Degree in Community Economic Development at Southern New Hampshire University.
